- MECHANISM OF ACTION OF PARACETAMOL:
- • Paracetamol acts on the hypothalamus to produce an antipyretic effect, as fever develops when the hypothalamus is set to a higher-than-normal temperature.
- • Paracetamol works peripherally to block pain impulse generation; may also inhibit prostaglandin synthesis in CNS

- • Adults: Take 1 to 2 tablets orally every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Make sure not to exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours.
- • Adolescents aged 16 to 18 years: Take 1 to 2 tablets orally every 6 hours as needed. Make sure not to exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours.
- • Adolescents aged 12 to 15 years: Take 1 tablet orally every 6 hours as needed. Make sure not to exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.
- • Children under 12 years of age: Do not give this medication to children under 12 years of age.
- • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
